Top Lobbying Firm Signs Long-Term Lease for 8th Floor at 800 Maine Avenue
WASHINGTON, D.C. (MAY 6, 2016) – Hoffman-Madison Waterfront, the master developer of the world-class mixed-use waterfront community The Wharf, today announced that Van Scoyoc Associates Inc., one of Washington’s top lobbying firms, signed a long-term lease at 800 Maine Avenue for 21,000 square feet of space.
“The Wharf and 800 Maine is the ideal location for our team,” said H. Stewart “Stu” Van Scoyoc, the company’s founder and president. “It is close to the Capitol and many of the federal agencies where we do business, and has tremendous amenities to offer our clients and employees. We looked all over the city, but nothing else compared to The Wharf. We are excited to be part of this once-in-a-generation effort to revitalize Washington’s historic Southwest waterfront.”
800 Maine Avenue, set to deliver in the third quarter of 2017, is an eleven-floor, 220,000-square-foot Class-A office building at the corner of 9th Street and Maine Avenue SW. Considered the “Gateway to The Wharf,” 800 Maine Avenue offers spectacular views of the Capitol Building and historic Washington Channel. It is being constructed to LEED-Gold Core and Shell standards which includes reduced water use, energy-efficient equipment and finishes and a vegetated green roof.
"I am delighted to welcome Van Scoyoc Associates to The Wharf where this historically influential independent lobbying company will be joining a like-minded community of forward-thinking commercial and professional leaders," said Amer Hammour, Chairman of Madison Marquette. "The Wharf is rapidly becoming a top destination for platinum-level office and retail tenants, restaurants, condominium buyers, and travelers from across the region and the world."
“We are thrilled that Stu Van Scoyoc and his entire organization will have a new address at The Wharf. The addition of one of Washington’s premier lobbying and consulting organizations to our world-class waterfront community showcases The Wharf’s location and accessibility within the region—an optimal location for their staff and clients,” said Monty Hoffman, founder and CEO of PN Hoffman. “We are building a full roster of commercial tenants who have local roots and nationwide appeal, and who, like Van Scoyoc Associates, are drawn to the transformative community we are creating at The Wharf.”
In addition to Van Scoyoc Associates Inc., the American Psychiatric Association signed a 10-year, 63,000-square-foot lease at 800 Maine Ave.
The Wharf was represented by Brian Dawson and Mark Wooters of Cushman & Wakefield.
